So if she lowers the bike with a Shotgun shock does that provide her with a better ride than shock like Progressive. I'm concerned about changing the geometry and handling characterisitcs of the bike..is there something abuot the Shotgun that makes it a better choice as far as those concerns go?
Yea bro it has air in both sides of the shock which not only allows you to change the height but adjust the rebound or firmness of the ride with the flick of a switch YouTube it bro jd the owner has a lot of videos where he explains the design and what not I have yet to see a negative post about them I had another airide setup but changed it because I wanted a better ride
A sportster sits way higher than a softail. The cool thing about a softail is that you sit much more in the bike than with a sportster. Get a lo pro C&C seat, and a shotgun air ride and she will be good.

+ 1 on what Drew said.
A Sporty is much taller than a Fl Softail and has a higher center of gravity.
Seat, bars and lower the front and rear and she will be good to go.
You will not affect the handling of the bike if you lower it both front and rear other than to decrease the lean angles. Going with bolts in the rear is the least expensive , I have 422 on the back and a progressive kit on the front my bike is 2" lower front and rear and Im happy with it. But IMO a Shotgun Air Shock in the rear is the way to go. She could slam it for slow speed and on the road pump it up if she wants the "soft/plush" ride.
