On the bags? No need with the barebacks. They are basically customized bolts on both bag and bike with a male and female end. The female side just bolts to the bag.

What those pics don't show is a spring loaded ring that slides up over the area where they join to keep them in place. I'll post pics later.

So, I got my Barebacks back and plate relocation bracket today. I am right in the middle of the install so the bike is still on my lift and in pieces but this should give you an idea what these things look like on the bike. Sorry for the crappy pics but tough to get good ones in my cellar...

First the bag I am using.

And then the male ends mounted to the fender.

With the optional caps installed when the bags aren't mounted. You can buy black or chrome. I need smaller washers...

Bareback fully installed with the bag.

Bag mounted on the bike.

Functionally, they work great and I don't think any bags/brackets look all that great on a bike. I am bummed over this plate relocation bracket though. It is freakin' ugly!!!!
If you want to see anything else, let me know. I'll shoot a pic.

I have the Bubbas system on my bike. They allow me to mount my quick disconnect backrest and bags. The mounted bags are only about 1/2" from the struts and it's real clean when nothing is mounted (just the thickness of the mounting bolt). The thing I didn't like about most systems is it makes the bags stick out and leaves a rather large gap. If you look at the picture below (the small bolt on the strut), that's what my backrest and saddlebags mount to. Sorry I don't have any close ups right now. The bolt on strut has a small gap that the backrest fits in and it is threaded. A mounting bolt goes through the bag and threads into the bolt. The only down side is you have to use Bubbas detachable backrest brackets if you indeed want a backrest. You can get just the bolts for saddlebag mounts only or the whole system for saddlebags and backrest.
It's a little spendy but such is the life of a Harley owner.
Pretty neat system and the cleanest I have found!

THanks guys for all the pictures and by all means anyone else wants to post pics please do so it only helps people like me try to find a solution...I am keeping the bags I have...I like them and don't want to change....I do have a backrest but will never put it on again so hope by not using it that it will make whatever solution I find fit a little closer....basically I want quick disconnect as I will ride without bags about 99% of the time but want to be able to very quickly put bags on and off if we go to the beach and stay over night...also locking attachment would be very nice so don't have to worry about bags AND contents going bye bye/....my bags themselves lock on the lid...they are HD bags
