Not exactly

Checked a dealer I've bought from in the past and here are the out the door prices for a Blackline and a 1200 Sportster:

2011 Softail Blackline (Two-tone w/ABS) $19,474

2011 Sportster 1200 Custom 11,768

Talked to two different dealers and they said the only Blacklines available after the press launch were two-tone and had the $1,200 abs-security option. My prefered dealer has one on the floor and it's 17,700 (includes BS freight/setup charge). It's an awesome bike but I don't think many will drop 19K+ OTD for a stripped down softail

Stopped at my local dealer today, dropped my rear wheel off for new bearings so I checked out the Blackline. First thing I noticed ( I can't believe no one commented on this ) is that it has the Rocker coil/key setup. I know how many of us Rocker owners don't like it so I have a hard time understanding why they brought it back on this model, must have a lot left! Other than the tank and dash, I think this new bike is a total turd! Too many different finishes ( chrome here and there mixed with flat and gloss black? ) Just seems like they're trying to empty some parts bins to me.

Are we going back to the 80's skinny *** back tires? I hope not, I thought the 200 on the newer softails was the best thing they have done in along time. JMO

I'd take a new Wide Glide any day over that thing. I don't get it...looks cheap.

I stopped by yesterday and looked at it. I wasn't overly impressed by the bike. Like everyone else said....too many things going on and none of them seem to flow together.

I was told that they are coming out with different bars from them.....supposed to be styled the same, only with a little higher rise and pullback. Bring em closer to the rider.

Stock plate mount is ridiculous. Not that I can blame em.....how many Softails do you see these days with the stock tag mounts anymore? Its going to get changed out anyway so they kept it cheap....that's marketing for ya.

The two-tone engine is an interesting concept....but they totally bit the bullet on it. If they would have done a better job incorporating the other components into the two-tone....it may have looked better.

Air Cleaner is HUGE!!!! Half it down and get rid of the chrome. It looks idiotic with that big *** chrome air cleaner cover and a two-tone engine right behind it.

Coil/Key location.....need I say more? Most people move their coil to that location and make a nice custom touch with the coil cover/mounting brackets. But the key combo looks cheap.

Speedo location is alright. Not to deep down into the bars. They wanted a cleaner tank.....and that was the end result.

Rear fender looks they wanted to go with a Heartland style inspired fender. But it sits too high off the tire and has the tag mount on the end of it totally taking away from the overall look of the fender.

And the skinny tires.....you wanted retro. You got it.

Price is too high. I would expect it more in the 13-14 range but 16 is too pricey. Especially when its trying to compete with the Lo, Deluxe, Heritage.....Its no contest.

I'll stick with my Lo. Not interested in buying a bike that will require 10K just to get it to look like a bike. But to each its own. I'm sure someone will be inspired by it and take it home.....but it won't be me.
