I didn't care for them at first but now they are starting to grow on me. One of the demo bikes I rode had a set the Deluxe I took for a spin and it wasn't too bad.
Now Texas does not have a helmet law or sound law for exhausts. BUT they do have a law for handlebars they can't be more than 15" inches higher than the lowest part of your seat.
What my question is would this mean 12" mini apes would be the biggest I can go with and stay legal? Police most likely will not give me a ticket problem you run into is when you go to get inspected. Guess I can swap bars go get inspected then swap them back.
louisiana is the same way with the 15" from the lowestpart of the seat. i have 16" I havent put on yet. If you look at the majority of bikes i would imagine most bikes are sitting pretty close to 15" with the stock set up, i think it is a stupid law. I have friends with 20" - 12" and onlyone has gotten a ticket for it. but his are 20" and when he rides his arms are almost bent at a 90 degree up. his hands are probably 5" above his head
I don't know how hard the Tx police enforce their handlebar law. Here in Va up until a couple of years ago,we had a similar law.I once measured my old softail from the bottom of the seat to the top of the buckhorn bars.It was illegal,so go figure. So basically according to our law,the only legal bars I could put on my bike were drag bars with no risers, lol.
I don't have any problems either. The guy at the Harley dealership told me that my bars were illegal when I took it in for inspection and then he slapped the insp sticker on it and took my $14. I have friends that have 14's all the way up to 20's. No issues for any of us. i think that it's just another one of those reasons to give them to harass you if they want to.
We have a similar law in Ontario, it is used only to harass MC members, if you fight the ticket they usually withdraw it. it is stupid.
I find the same thing here, if you are not hanging higher than your shoulders, cops just ignore you.
