Removing rear shift linkage help?
Having problems removing the rear shift linkage. Need to put the bent shift linkage in that comes with the Samson exhaust. Front comes off no problem. The rear has a rubber boot and a 7/16 open end wrench size but it is on tight can't seem to break it lose.
Any tips or help?

The rubber boot does nothing other than prevent dirt from getting into ball. Hold the inside nut which is actually part of the bolt and then turn the outside nut. Probably has some lok-tite on it.
Thanks for the info, as I was struggling a bit. Leave it to HD forums! Before I could even ask the question, I already had my answer! Incidentally, my HD 2010 shop manual spoke about adjusting but not removing the linkage, and the instructions for the part in the package indicated using the incorrect wrench sizes. Go HD! Here is my set up now, thanks to you. It is the cylinder base cover below with the buckshot linkage above. The brake and shift lever as ewll as the hand controls are also matching. Thanks again!

The mistake I made was removing the front linkage first instead of the rear. You need the front attached so you can get the leverage you need to remove the rear. Live and learn. Won't happen next time.
