Default Heel/Toe Shifter question?

Hi All,
Went to the dealer yesterday to visit and buy some more "goodies" for my 2011 Fatboy. Weather is still too crappy to pick it up around here. Anyway, I've never had a bike with heel and toe shifters before and want to give it a try. It just seems odd that my size twelve foot just fits between the shifters. Anybody with a larger foot OK with the stock shifters or should I go longer? Since this new to me I'd just like ideas on the setup. Thanks!

Do a search on this forum for answers. Mine is gone, as I hated it. Others love it. Still others have switched them around so that the rear shifter is on the inside and the front shifter is placed toward the outside for more foot room. Then there are various covers if you take them off. I bought the HD buckshot shift lever and brake lever, which is much nicer, and also got the TWO PIECE chrome cover for the spacer and to hide the end of the shaft. Do a search; MUCH info to be found!

A lot of people will tell you to ditch it, specialy with your big feet but you should just give it a try. I got used to mine within a couple of days and now use my heel for up-shifting on a regular basis (well really always). It won't feel natural at first.

I stopped using mine but its still on the bike, I just think its a pain to always be lifting up your leg to shift when you can just flip your foot under the shifter

My feet don't face straight forward, the toes of my size 11's point a little to the outside, so the distance b/w the pegs is never a problem. I love the heel and toe setup, Try it!

only got two days on my Fat Boy with the heel/toe shifter, first one for me as well. I'm walking on 11.5" shoes, only had one mishap so far putting my foot up onto the board and hitting the heel shifter. Still getting used to it, and plan to give it a lot more road time before making any changes, or removing the heel shifter.
Give it a chance, you just might like it, it does save wear & tear on the toe of your left boot.....

My feet are size 12 or 13 depending on the shoe. I have no issue with the stock heel-toe shifter. Sometimes I use it, sometimes I don't. Guess it depends on my mood.

Had a few customers and one buddy that ended up bending their shift linkage stomping on the heel shifter...but each instance was on an Ultra Classic. Something to consider.
