I went with the solid color. I get alot of remarks about the blue colbart color. Some interesting shades of color in sunlight, shade or parking lot lights.

I prefer black but on that style of bike I like it a lot. Good choice FaMick.

Hi Bobros,

Just like you I was a big fan of the two tone for a long time. But the more I looked the more I liked the solid colors. So I ended up buying a Black Pearl bike.
But..... It would be fun to have something different.
Not sure exactly what direction you are heading, but I really like a new color that seems to be on a lot of new cars today, It's a silver like color with some bluish green tint to it.
I belive that would be nice on this bike, maybe with some dark silver stripes just like the original.
I am also a fan of keeping it classic, without the skulls and flames. Especially on this bike.

Just my 2 cents, maybe you can start a Custom painted Deluxe picture thread when you get the bike done.
Would be fun to see some more custom paint jobs on these bikes.

I was at Biketobefest in Daytona a few weeks ago, and I saw soooo many bikes, but I didn't see ONE custom painted Deluxe??!

Good look with your Paint job!

I have the deep cobalt/white as well. I still like it a lot even though it seems to be the most popular color combo for the deluxe. I still get a lot of ooglers eyeing it wherever I go. But, that is what's great about the harleys, everyone needs to do, or not do, whatever mods they want to make it their own.
Keep us posted!

Bobros,

The local shop has a custom Deluxe for sale that I thought looked pretty nice. It was cobalt blue on top of the tank and fenders and white beneath the blue on all three pieces. Looked special.

Go to Barnes and Noble and take a look at the book titled The Harley Davidson Century . It has a lot of clear pictures of old Harleys in a lot of different colors and combinations. I'm sure you'll find something in that book that will help you with your decision.

Whiskers.

I already ordered 3 HD books. Deciding on a color is like naming your child. Can't make a decision. I already have the emblem like your but that may chage depending on the color I'm going to go with. I gotta decide soon. The paint guy is already starting to back up with winter coming.

There's something to be said for those two-tone paintjobs.. When I first saw my old '90, it had dual samson fishtails out the back and beachbars, no bags and those chrome wheels.. pictures of it were at the beach in great sunlight.. Instant love. What tears me up is when I swapped PC's I lost the pictures.. Arrggghh!! But it was to me the epitome of what a Harley was supposed to look like.. Low with fat fenders, stretched (not in the neck but just in the profile).. Kind of like a nice hotrod.. the character of a chopped 49 or 50 Merc on two wheels. That's one thing I think when I look at my fatboy is that I wish I could pull off that look with it, but it's just a different style altogether with the trimmed front fender, no fender lights and lightbar and bull-dozer wheels. The deluxe can pull off the nostalgic look soooooo nicely though.

Where did you get the bag guards? I asked HD and they didn't have any.

If i may say i also like the two tone look .I think that reversed color would look great on a deluxe. Much more retro looking. People would look at it and take a second look to figure out whats diffrent. But i must admit i,m partial to black and chrome.

They are for a springer. Not an exact fit for the Deluxe but will fit.
