I drive like most little old ladies (slow). I have a ME880 now on the front but it was free with my $100 wheel. Think the ME880 is worth the extra $. Notice in the spec book it's a little narrower then the same size Dunlop. Can you tell that on the bike? Did a lot of searching but it appears on my stock 04 I can run up to a 180/55-17 SE tire or a 180/60-17 SE. Do either of you know which one it is and how close it is the the caliper mount or the belt? Does not appear you can get a slightly bigger rear ME880. I would assume by mounting the 180 SE on a 4" wide rim is why you can get away with this. My friend has a 180 on a 3" wide rim and it is not as wide as my 160 on the 4" wide rim. When I got the front wheel it came with a 3" wide 16" rim similar to my back except it chrome. Came off the rear of a 04 Fatboy. Anyone think I can get a tire on it as wide as my 160 looks and fit my Duece with out modifying anything? Thanks.
To answer two of your questions...

Yes you can see the difference in width between the Metzler and the Dunlop on the bike. The Metz is a little narrower. I've run both and I'm ok with either. It's usually quickest availability when I need tires that determines which ones' are on the bike at any given time.

As far as how big you can go without interference - I don't know. Never tried anything other than the stock size.

As for the picture, that was somewhere in WY. I wanted the picture at over 100 mph but by the time I snapped it I had slowed just a tad. Didn't know it until after-the-fact and haven't really had the urge to do it over again LOL.

With the black, and keeping the rest of the wheel polished, it looks great.

Man..i don't know if going down an inch would work. To me that would make the tire/caliper clearance real tight. The widest part of the tire would be that much closer to the caliper therefore, you may need a narrower tire to clear if you know what i mean? Now if you go up a size to an 18" then your good with a 180 or 200 me880..200 needing some mods.. my 180-55-18 me880 bolted right on no mods other than the fact i need to trim the plastic lower belt guard to clear the tire.

The center distance through the hub were the brake rotor and drive pulley bolt is 6 1/2" for the 16 and my 17. It's just the inner tire rim width that is different. The newer Harley with the wider swing arms have a 7 1/4 through hub I think. You are correct however about the smaller diameter bring the tire closer to the caliper mount but it also would be 1/2" inward in this area. The biggest problem of the 16 is finding a wide enough tire to look good. When I look at mine it's darn close to the belt also. Specs on a k591 160-70b-17 is 6.48 wide and 25.80 tall. The D407 170/60R-17 is 6.67 wide and 25.48 tall. That is only .19 wider should clear and lower bike slightly. However it is a radial. Cannot find the spec on what Kwide refers to on one of his post for the SE tire. Just in case you have not noticed I need a tire but really do not have the change for a $800+ wheel.
