hopefully the link works
I have that same spike air cleaner. I bought mine from D2Moto. I paid about the same price. Has been on the bike over a year now with no problems and looks as good today as it did when I took it out of the box. Hey, don't feel bad because you didn't pay $300.00 for the thing. We all only have so much money to spend. It looks damn good for what you have to pay. Go for it!!
Yeah, I got one of the cheapo D2Moto knockoffs too. The real ones, D&M?, run about $500+. If you like the look, it's not a bad way to go, but I think they might actually restrict the airflow. The filter is not very big and most of it is covered by the spike. I actually cut away every other "finger" on the spike, hoping to let a little more air in. I think you can see it in my sig. pict. And that ebay kit doesn't look like it addresses the breathers, unless they breathe back through that mounting plate, which I doubt.
I would have to wonder what kind of air flow you get from them. Would it be considered a Stage I up grade? I have pipes going on soon, so I guess with this A/C I would need a tuner or dealer flash. BTW I like the black as well, and if the finish is crap on it I can always have it powder coated for about $20.00...
