Default saddleman bags

Just wondering if anyone has previously owned saddleman saddlebags. I no they are cheaper then HD saddlebags so you are probably losing the quality of leather, but other than that if you could give any insight into the quality of their products it would be appreciated.

I've got this one: http://www.saddlemen.com/store/index...oducts_id=4441 and I'd have to say the quality is very nice. It's got rollers and goes over the sissy bar and sits on the passenger seat or luggage rack. It hold enough for the weekend for both my wife and I and has a rain cover. I'd highly recommend it. In fact we're looking to get another one soon.

Had them, for the price they are nice. In some ways they are better then leather, very durable. Sold them for larger bags. But, bought a saddleman sissy bar bag and hard mounted it to the back of the bar.

If you are patient, larger leather bags come up in the classifieds for about the same price as saddleman.

Default Saddleman Bags

For the price Saddleman's are good bags. Haven't bought a pair for the softail but have purchased 3 sets in the past in various sizes. Put an XXL pair on an 1100v-star - would hold a set of tent poles with no problems. Large opening allowed for caring just about anything. I did have a problem with the rear wheel nut just hitting the bottom of the bag on a lg bump; after 2 years the backing cracked. We remedied this by using white plastic cutting board cut to size - sprayed black and bolted on the back of the bag. Attached ghost brackets and still going strong. I miss being able to easily fit my leather jacket and a helmet in my side bag. But I will take my new Softail over my 1100 any day.
