Finally got the conversion all done. Got sick of not being able to put two jackets into the old springer classic bags (although loved the look) so went to RK custom bags. Also decided something beside ear buds would be nice for the trips so got a fairing for cold and long (multi day) rides. This is the end result. Timed it and took about 10 minutes to get everything off. Although not sure how often the bags will come off. Really nice not having to bungee everything down and can fit all sort of good beverages in there.
Nice!
In my opinion, the RK Custom bags are the perfect choice for converting the softail to a bagger.
I agree 100%. Originally was not going to go with them until a co-worker talked me into it, and got them for next to nothing. You should be able to order them from the factory with them, look better on a softail than the RK in my opinion and thanks for the kind words so far.
Did you order your fairing with the leather cover? Very nice.
It is a Woodys (www.woodysfairings.com) fairing with 4x10 speakers. The cover is a Harley one that I picked up on craigslist really cheap, hundreds cheaper than getting it painted. Really happy with the fairing so far. If anyone is thinking of getting a fairing I would talk to Woody he knows his stuff. The only bad thing is I have apes off a wide glide and they don't quite clear the radio so they have to be tilted towards me a little when it is on, no a big deal but I am looking for a wider ape now.

See above for fairing info. I was on the fence for a long time. But figured since I only had the windshield on when it was cold or long trips I wouldn't mind the extra protection and tunes. Plus it was cheaper than a good amp and speaker kit, but I did have an extra receiver laying around so that helped. It mounts up to the stock windshield mounts. Only need to change the rubber grommets out to machined ones that come with the fairing and that is it. You do have to loosen the bolts a little to get it off, but otherwise goes on and off just like the shield.
