Default Engine size from VIN

I am considering buying a 2007 Softail Standard from a private dealer in the UK, the bike has been imported from the U.S and is not a spec that we ever got over here...it's a 96" six speed(he says) with the 200 rear end, is there anywhere to check the motor size from the VIN number? Obviously I can check the six speed thing easily enough by going through the box and getting the '6' to illuminate in the speedo..the only evidence he can offer that it is definitely a 96" is the air cleaner cover script which I'm sure can easily be bought...he did let slip that before the bike arrived in the U.K he thought it was an 85" so was "pleasantly surprised to find otherwise", he seems straight enough and buys a lot of bikes but who knows?
Anyone know of a way to check?

Harley changed all but the dyna's to the TC96 in 07, so it would be a 96, unless the engine was modified. I don't know if it is still the case, but the eighth digit in the VIN was the engine code back in the 80's.

The 10th digit in the VIN should be a "7"...same as the third digit in the motor number...for a 2007.

2007 softail standards were built as 96 inch, 6 speed with a 200 rear tire.

All '07's were 96 CI. Dynas got the six speed in 06.

Well then, I stand corrected. I was thinking the Dyna's also got the 96 for the 06 model year.
