Default EVO project underway

Updates to a 97 softail custom I picked up are underway. Well sort of a project. Not really huge changes The first picture (with no wheels) is basically how I bought it. Well the wheels were on it when I got it. It needed a front tire so I went ahead and got a new front spoke wheel. Got her mounted up, balanced and endplay checked and she fits perfect. Got rid of the bars and the new ones are the exact look I was going for. Keeping the original cast wheel on the rear for now. Once I replace the rear wheel and tire I will also drop the rear. The pipes hanging up have been on the bike for a while. They were in nasty shape with scratches but I high temp sprayed the tips and will wrap the rest. They sound excellent and have some killer sounding Samson baffles in them. We will see how long the spray lasts. I used DEI spray (they also make high quality wrap) with about 3 coats so I have high hopes. Pulled the carb yesterday. As I expected it was too lean but not bad. Cleaned it up well and polished up the slide. Also used some HD black motor paint to fill in some spots. That stuff works great. Anyway I still have a little way to go but it is coming around better than I thought. Also a cam is on the way and will go in the bike in a few months.

Oh and I have a Memphis shades shield and saddle bags if anyone is interested.

Very cool. Looks good. I had a 1996 Softail Custom a little over a year ago. Fun bike. Wish I could've kept it and had my Fatboy at the same time.

It is fun so far. I sold my FLST. I don't ride near enough to justify two bikes. Plus I love working on them so much this fits me better (not to mention freeing up some good cash). Plus hopefully when I am done with the motor it will smoke my old bike.
