Harley wants 1299 for their full sized hardbags. Is this what brand most go with with true duals? Or what is another brand that is a good quality brand? Also do you have to change out your rear fender if going with hardbags?
I was at the Harley dealer today. Saw another customers Deluxe with true duals and hardbags. Wish I did not leave my iphone at the office and got tired of waiting for him to come out.
You don't have to change your fender. There are a few mounting brackets out there that will adapt them to a softail J&P Cyles has one in their catalog. I believe Cycle Visions sells them also. Hard HD bags are all over eBay. I saw a nice set go for around $500 last week with lids and hardware. You just gotta watch them and jump on them when a good deal pops up. You will have to have them painted tho to match your bike.
Ya, you definitely don't want to pay full retail on a brand new set.... you can find them all over the place. I bought a set from a member here... although I don't have them yet. Hopefully soon.
You can post in the Wanted to Buy section also and keep an eye on the classifieds in the touring. If you get the HD touring bags you can use cycle visions baggertail to mount them.
The bagger tail comes with all the stuff for mounting the bags. But be aware the bag hardware is expensive for the lids to attach and such. Used from ebay or do like I did and post a wanted ad in the WTB classifiedfs here.
Only reason I am asking bout changing the fender out is I am not sure I am going to leave the bags on the bike full time or not. I really like the look of the bike without bags. But sometimes I need bags and also when going on a weekend trip going to need bags.
Not sure this is possible or not but want to be able to take the bags off and on like I could if I went with leather bags.
Sorry still a huge Harley noob. Lots of dumb questions.
you may want to look at leatherpro, boss bags, or hog deluxe bags. They all make quick disconnect bags and some hold more than the HD hard bags. To make sure we are on the same page your initial comment was about HD hard touring bags right? or was it the hard bags for softails?
