Default Carlini Riser Question....

After my little incident, I got to thinking....the High Roller risers have set screws in them, so do you just tighten the risers until snug....then tighten the set screw? I wonder if the risers chipping were because they were over torqued. Either way, I don't want to have this happen again....and I know they'll be extra careful when they do the work again. I know alot of people run Carlini risers and never have a problem....so I'm just thinking ahead.

Doubt that very much,Over torquing would not cause them to flake or chip.I think they most likely hit them with a wrench when tightening them. The bolts are underneath the High Rollers instead on top like most risers. You have to be more careful when snugging them up.You cant use most standard sockets as they dont fit underneath the High Rollers and the top of the triple tree.More than likely it was just plain carelessness.

There is no way over tightening will cause the risers to chip. They can only get so tight.

Those scratches were caused by large fisted hams that nature meant to handle a jack hammer instead of calculated fitment of small parts.

So then its basically happening either due to bad chrome plating.....or its because it was handled poorly? I was thinking it was because they were adjusted with the risers being tightened....causing friction. The bottom line is that the new parts will be in today or tomorrow and they start on it Monday. I'm sure they'll be extra careful...they'd hate to eat the labor and new parts for a 3rd time.

The scratches in the bars are from moving the bars in the risers that were too tight. There is no way Carlini would sell a set of bars with scratches on them like that unless they were their blems and I have never seen a set of blems from them that were that bad. They would return them to the manufacturer whom I know.

The dealer said "the bars are on us"....I take that as admitting fault. People make mistakes...its good people the correct them, which the dealer is doing.

As for Carlini....I cannot say enough good things about them. Rex was awesome, he said there is no way that the risers should be chipping, and he said he'd send out a new set ASAP....it was on the dealer to pony up for the bars. They didn't question anything, they just made it right....which is rare now-a-days!

I understand the scratches on the bars, I just wonder why the chrome flaked....the service manager said its a design flaw, the corners are to sharp....I simply stated there is no way Carlini could sell $200 risers if they are gonna flake every time you tighten them down....

Thankfully Carlini knew they were full of it and decided to replace the risers the dealer's careless handling damaged.

I was careful when installing my bars and risers because they are mine.

If I lived in SoCal, I'd have about 30 forum members to help/do the install....

Yes you would. You'd see it's not as hard as you think to DIY.
You'd be out in the garage away from your wife is one benefit.
