My wife has a 2007 Honda that is carb'ed, after reading the owners manual and the net 87 oct is best for it. My 2007 96CI that is FI seems to run best on 91+.

Now while people can take chances, I got to see a few cars that recomended premium fuel and due to limited fuel (Rita/Katrina and other situations) ran 87 as it was all they could get at the stations. The cars ran like crap, check engine lights came on, etc...

I am guessing the makers of vehicles have a better idea of what we can run in their engines safely. Some cars are being made that can adjust to different fuels octains. My 2004 Mercury Marauder liked 91 or better and that is also what the factory said to run, and with a tune and mods likes 93. The compression ratio was never changed, but the tune and intake/exhaust were. I paid for a tune on my bike and car to run at its best. Both were set up for 93 oct and thats what I will run.

Default Avgas

To the guy who only runs AVGAS 100 LOW LEAD ( Aviation Fuel ) You have no idea how BAD that is for you motor When I was working my way up through the ranks at the airport refueling airplanes. We always ran avgas in our fuel trucks. We had to change the plugs every month to keep them running. When we pulled the plugs they were covered in lead and when you would clean the lead off the post (There was no post just a thin peace of metal shaped into a point)

(GOT LEAD) Think ZEP Get the LED out

Wow, I'm real happy with the amount of replies here! Very beneficial. I'll stick to 93. I'm working currently, (nights, Leo) and just cruised past the several gas stations in town, and they only one that doesn't say anything about ethanol is the Gulf. We have a sunoco, and a bunch of mom and pop places.

We also have Wawa gas around me, which burns faster than anything I've everr used So stay away from that if you get the chance.

89 for all of them. They run strong and smooth. Even 87 when I can find it without ethanol.

HD's ECM is programed to run on 87 to 91.
