fellas - i just picked up my new ride and am about to pull the trigger on a set of 16inch apes (mabe you can help me decide on those too - LOVE the Carlini gansters, but read LOTS of good stuff on the wild1s on here - thoughts????)
also, what is your opinion on the following from steelthunder?
Part#: C693920 - 16" Burly brand Ape Hanger install kit? Looks like a complete kit for under 2 bills. what am i missing?
thoughts???
thanks in advance guys! and sorry if it was right in front of my mug, i searched but didnt see much on this kit.....
As for brand's... Carlini & Wild 1 are among the best. HCC (Hill Country Customs) makes some complete sets with bars, controls, wires, & plugs. Basically Plug-n-Play.
The Burly brand install kit, is only cables and stuff... NO BARS! If you just want plain black cables for the best price, that is a pretty good package. But, if your wanting stainless steel, for that chrome look, there is only one choice in my book... and that is Magnum Chromite II cables. They cost more the the Burly get, but you get what you pay for.
Let us know what you decide, and congrats on the new scoot!
He said for under $200...man, you guys love those Hill Country people...anyhoo, check out Burly Brand 16" kit for the Softail for under $200, good quality, full kit comes with wire extensions that are plug and play...just put someon my fatboy two weeks ago and they look and feel awesome. I was able to put bars on my bike for a grand total of $253.28 !!!!!

How did you get bars & the cable / wire kit for under $260? I just added a pair of 14" apes & the install kit on Burly's site, and the total was $582 without shipping!
And I did mention the Burly install kit, in my post.
thanks guys! yes i realize the cable kit is only cables. i have black on my bike now and like the way they look so i think i will give the burly kit a shot.
and as much as i dont want to spend that kind of ching on a set of handle bars, i think i gotta have the ganster apes.
probally pull the trigger this week....ill keep ya posted!
thanks again for your feedback
I managed to grab the set up by bargain shopping. I picked up my bars on eBay for cheap (16" Paughco's...old school 1"), Burly kit for like $170 at local parts store that gives 20% discount off retail price, pair of old school Super Sixties metalflake grips for $24 brand new on eBay and had myself and a buddy put them on (saved a bunch on install). I just wanted an old school feel for my bike, not into what everyone elses is getting but everyones' bike is theirs to do with what they want. I just can't justify paying $200+ on bars and close to $400 on cables, $45+ on wire extensions, installation, etc., when there's plenty of quality parts out there for reasonable prices...cheers !
