Default Speedo/Tach Combo Problem

I have an'08 FLSTC and I've had a speedo/tach combo (the type that has the color change feature) for about 2 problem free years. Just today while riding I noticed that the speedometer and tach needles occasionally would bottom out and go to the zero position for a split second and then return to normal operation, Similar to how the needles behave at the startup cycle. Sometimes it would occur two times in quick succession and sometimes only once. Nothing else is affected in the speedometer display and the engine runs normally. It happened numerous times throughout the day at random intervals. I've done a search and cannot find any similar situation. If anyone has has a similar experience I would really like to hear about it. Thanks.
