Default thunder max help

I installed my thunder max and mapped it, after starting bike a number of times it settled in and idled great. I didn't have time for a ride then but went out today. Bike did not want to idle at first and ran rough and popped a lot. Did I forget to do something or will it just take a while for the auto tune to work? Thanks for any help!

Did you load the appropriate map?

Did you go thru the initialization process described in your instructions?
30 sec on-30 sec off, repeat 3 times. Then start and let it idle up to full temp without touching the throttle (IAC cal).

I had a problem from washing the bike. Water gets into the IAC harness and the IAC won't work right. Symptoms are runs fine at speed but won't idle. If you look at your IAC map, it is a mess. One time actually blew the IAC driver in the TMAX, had to send it back for a warranty replacement. Now I always let it sit 24 hours after washing before starting it. Have not had an issue in the rain.

Is the base map you loaded a good match for your bike's engine (pipes, cam, throttle body, etc)? Might be a good idea to start over and reload the base map, initialize like merdahl said, then ride for 20 minutes, shut it down, restart and ride again for 20 minutes, etc. Repeat the run-stop-run cycle several times so the auto tune can work it's magic.

I used map 536 have a 08 Fat Boy with Vance and Hines long shots staggered. I did everything as instructed and even tried to reload and start over. I had the same results, the bike will not idle at first after about 8 to 10 restarts it runs very rough until it gets dialed in (about 10 minutes) the next time I start the cold bike I have the same issues. I may call tech today and go for a ride after I get done to try to let the bike settle in. Any other suggestions?

Have you tried starting the bike with the unit connected to your computer. There is a real-time diagnostic screen that would likely help you identify the problem.

That is completely the wrong map for your bike. Look at it more closely.

I see map 546 as the right one for your bike.

Also make sure you go online and update the maps.

You also have to make sure that you have the right speedo calibration.

That's great to hear. You're gonna love that TMAT. There's an option to update your firmware too.
