Ahh...right on. Thanks for the idea.

I pulled mine and then located the coil behind the rear splash guard and havent had a problem yet. Just some fyi, if you dont want to pull the oil bag out to get the seat post out, just cut it off at the bottom then unbolt it and it will come right out.

They did drag on my first relocation attempt. Made a bracket from an old push rod to move them forward and higher. If they drag now, I have much bigger problems.

Hell yeah man. Thanks for the tip! I'm powdercoating my oil tank so I'll have it out anyway though.

I guess my compressor goes behind that splash guard. I like that place for the coil but I want to see how hot the compressor gets first.

I pulled my seat post... you run the risk of bending the frame at the weld. Ask me how I know... had it fixed and replaced with a post without the coil bracket.

Just out of curiosity which weld did you have the issue at? I know there are a ton of people on here that have pulled their post and are not reporting this. Maybe we are overlooking something critical. Also what year, model bike do you have?

Right where the round frame from the rear flattens to meet the square spine frame... just in front of where the down post attaches. Now I will admit that I weigh 275lbs and that may have had something to do with it. My bike is an 03 Fatboy with a Mustang seat.

Can anyone see that pic bigger than just the thumbnail? I'm interested to see where the failure happened.

Nope, can't see it bigger either.

Note: HD pulled the seat post on the blackline model themselves .. I don't think they have changed/strengthened the frame there to do this.
