Looks great. To me the Blackline just screams for apes.

I like it. Much better than the stockers. I don't know about using HD cables though, there are better choices out there that might save you some money. Of course I'm sure the local stealer has cables in stock though.

I would also be concerned for the bars spinning unless they are keyed or pinned.

I would not move them forward either. I think they look killer right like they are.

They look great! I think you could make a small plate to sit flat on the top tree. Then weld the bars to it once you cut your angle on them. That would keep them from wanting to spin or turn.

I would agree to weld them on a mounting plate. Maybe cut a bevel on the base to give a slight tilt forward?

if you have the welding skills you could consider adding an elbow at the bottom of each bar to move the bars out wider so they match the width trees better
