Hey guys. So my latest problem seems to be that the engine is missing going down the highway. It only happens every now and then and it's only for about half a second. At least it feels like it's the engine, or something slipping just for a second. Don't think it's the clutch slipping, as she'll pull great up a hill under load in high gear. Any ideas? Still really has a bit of vibration to it that it never had last season in the lower rpms (not lugging). It never used to feel like a freight train when I'm doing 50mph in 5th. And even 6th at lower speeds, it has all the power in the world, but vibrates like crazy under load. Say at about 66mph in 6th it will easily pull up a hill, or pull out to pass, but it's really vibrating. I generally only run 6th when cruising at around 75mph, but even that just barely seems enough.

You might want to check the compensator sprocket out.
Yeah, that was the first thing I talked to my dealer about, but they said it wouldn't cause a vibration like that. I don't know a lot about how the compensator works, but could it actually "slip" while driving? like I said, it's only for like a split second... More I think about it though, less it seems like the engine missing, but so hard to tell, it happens so quick.
OK, so a little research done. The misfire at cruising speed could most likely be in the plugs/wires/coil. If this is the case, is it possible that a week firing plug could be the cause of the vibration? Also, would one of those problems not put up a code? I know the misfire could also be injector or something, but I would think a bad injector would be giving me a little more trouble then it is.
Me too. When I read the title of this post I thought holy crap, that takes the "Do you have to worry much about helmet thieves?" thread to a whole new level. Gonna have to find some way to lock my engine to the frame too?
Vibes can come from a tune that it out a bit like the Doc said. Plugs and wires are a cheap replacement. The fuel filter might also be the culprit. You might also run some Sea Foam additive to the gas and see if it helps. It'll clean up the injectors.
