I got my bike used with V&H Big Radius pipes already installed. I really like the look, but I'm getting tired of the noise. Not just too loud, I don't even like the sound itself. I don't know if there are baffles installed. Do you think after-market baffles like the Big City(sp?) would make a difference? Should I be looking for different pipes? With the baffles, would I need to reprogram the Fuel Pak?

I have the Big Radius pipes... liked the sound at first because I was coming from stock.. but after about a week I didn't care for it.. too sharp.. too tinny sounding... I like loud, but not this...
So this weekend I took the baffles out completely and entered a new map into my FuelPak.. LOVE the sound now... it's deeper.. more of a rumble.. my wife says it's QUIETER.. what it is, it's not as sharp sounding.. yes, it's louder when accelerating but I swear it's LESS obnoxious now when just idling and slowly kicking through the gears in town..
I didn't notice any difference in torque.. and my opinion is V&H wouldn't have had a map for those pipes with the FuelPak if people weren't running them like that...

Haha I'm the total opposite with my BR pipes. Too obnoxious and sharp sounding cruising thru town but sounds great pegging it out and that's without baffles too. It backfires and pops like crazy too.

To me it sounds more like a Harley with the baffles removed in the BR pipes.. I like it much better... surprised me that the wife thinks it sounds better too... she kinda looked at me funny when I told her I was pulling the baffles out to start with...

Interesting...for myself, if I could change the sound I don't mind if they are as loud as right now. Some questions:
What setting value are you using? (I use the suggested FP-0597)
How did you determine which setting to use?
Were the baffles that you removed the stock V&H ones?
Should I be able to look into the pipe end to see if I have baffles installed?
Might look into the V&H's quiet baffles, it lowers the Db's around 3 and emits a low lower and deeper sound.
Do some searches and see how others like them.

FP-4031
Used the map lookup on the website.
I had the stock baffles in there
I could see mine, you may have to shine a light up there because they are right passed the chrome insert..
fyi... one baffle came right out.. the other was a bi+ch
