But, since AAFES can't sell Harleys in Japan any more, I won't be jumping to baggers any time soon.
Ya the only problem with going to a bagger is that I would do the same
**** to it with Apes. My next bike will be A SG with 16s. I guess I will just have to stop more often to rest and drink a beer. Are you in Japan?

My butt gets sore with the factory badlander seat and seat and bars my Night Train came with. Good for about 2 hours or so. I think the street slammers will help me a bit. Some times you need to get used to things.

Yeah i get this problem to, neck and left shoulder,i put apes on my train and it does help, but just allows me to ride longer before the aches start,as has been said already old age creeping on doesnt help, nor does the weight of a helmet if you wear one.

Yes and Yes. Do it. You will not regret it.

A little time by me is defined as at least a month, with multiple 100-200 mile days. Hope it all works out. Good Luck.
+1 Best advise I've heard here.

A lot of people think that apes are the answer to everyone’s aches and pains…..but it’s just not the case. What works for Tom may very well not work for Dick and Harry. Only you know your own body and what slight adjustments in angle and position will do for you.

Unfortunately, seats and bars are not an inexpensive modification, make your selection based upon what fits your ergonomics to fight discomfort, not others. And as advised in the above quote, give it a chance for your body to get used to it, otherwise you will be in an everlasting vicious circle of making changes.

Might just be an issue I have had for a while. Any work over my head causes the same pinched nerve/burn. I normally am not on my bike as long as I was yesterday. My work is 12 minutes from my house so I may just be out of riding shape!

IMO Short bars and forward controls put U in a bent over position to began with..

The older U get the more I'd think it would bother U on the 2hr + rides.

At least theirs quite a few in here that says it does....

But it looks cool.

Get you some apes. you will be able to ride 400mile nonstop.[/quote]

Damn, I need some apes. Never thought about the improved gas mileage...sorry I am a jackass I just had to.

Apes will definitely help. although if you are having some shoulder issues going too tall with a set of apes might bring there own set of issue. I would think something that keeps your arms parallel would be pretty safe.

For a cheap solution, try the heritage bars. Never heard anyone complain about them.
