I have to completely disagree with wise guy I do longer rides all the time and the bolts have no effect on ride comfort as you are cruising down the highway or interstate they ride the worst in town with all the Intersections, road maintenance and bumps from start and stop traffic Just pay attention and avoid giant bumps or shell out for the air ride.
I just put 1600 plus miles in 4 days on the Train and it has HD 1" lowered shocks in the back and a 1" progressive spring kit in the front. No problems and it rode great. The shocks need to be adjusted to the riders weight. After finally getting my shocks unstuck and setting them right it rides down the road smooth. The guys on the baggers were squirming around in there seats more than I was.
Plus :
You set low in the bike, feels much better for me.
You are more confident in handling the bike
The bike feels lighter due to aforementioned low center of gravity.
Negatives :
Harsher jarring ride, specially using the lowering bolts, depending on your street it could really unpleasant.
2-UP is really jarring for your passenger.
Corner clearance will be reduced so adjust your corner entries if you are into this type of thing.
Metigations.
If you lower the forks and install racetech you may get improvement in the front suspension.
I am installing 422's on my bike so can't tell you my impressions right now on how different it is, opinions vary, but there is a global consent on the value of 'air-rides' but their prices put them out of my way.

that's a good weekend on the Train. I keep trying to talk my buddie with a lowered Train into some 600 mile days. No go, so far. I've snookered him into some 300+ mile days. Ride on man!

It was a good ride to Quantico VA and up to Washington. But now I just got a quote for 405 for a new rear tire I need before the trip to Souix Falls next month. 6000 miles out of those 200 tires kind of sucks.

I know you your pain. When it comes to tires, I long for the days of my old Wide Glide
[quote=fdb2007;8418861]I know you your pain. When it comes to tires, I long for the days of my old Wide Glide. I lived in SD for 3 years, you gotta go West River if you are going that far.

I miss the west so bad. Sure glad I bought a house in NC right before I retired and the housing market crashed. To bring the OP back around--not knockin' the lowered ride, just sayin' try one out if you have the chance before you shell out the cash and definitely do it right
