I rushed out of the house on Saturday to get my son's tire for his dirt bike fixed before the dealer closed. While waiting for them to fix his tire I realized I forgot my FOB. I thought I would be pouring through my manual to figure out how to use my pin number to start my bike. But it just fired up and I drove home. Does anyone know how I reactivate my security system? Did anyone else have this problem? Thanks in advance.

I've had nothing but problems with the so-called security system on my 2010. I thought the MOCO was introducing the HD LAN/CAN into the Softail line first to resolve the issues. Guess not, from your experience. I don't think there is a "user" reset in the user manual. I'll take a look in the Service/shop Manual.
I had the same thing on my 08 fatboy, it was not programed from the start. I called the dealer and they told me to carry it in now. I told them I was 170 miles from them. They knew they were liable if it got stolen. You should have seem all the free stuff I got from them. Their check list showed it was check but it wasn't. Makes you wonder what else wasn't.

Jeepers....that's a new low for stealership service. I would not have guessed that one...but given my experience ... makes sense. Mine just goes nuts. Randomly chirps at startup....security light inoperative at 90 deg F ... pager works only randomly ....etc.
I talked to the dealer. They think that they either installed the wrong part or didn't reactivate the security when they took care of the BCM recall. I'll find out on Thursday when they look at it. The service tech said they have had no problems with the HD smart security on any 2011's.
