Default fuelpak?

I installed my short shots and plan on doing a heavy breather. For right now I just want to get rid of the popping on decel. For those things is the fuelpak good enough, or should I get a pcv? Am I correct in thinking the fuelpak doesn't need to be dyno tuned? I won't be doing anymore engine work until maybe next year. Many other things I want to change first.

Sorry I know there's alot of threads on this but I just want to make sure I don't waste time and money buying something that won't do what I need.

i love my fuel pak. but if you are going to do engine mods in a year i would go with power commander. you will have the ability to tune future mods. the fuel pak is really limited to exhaust and air cleaner mods you cannot tune it further on a dyno. i have heard good things about fuel moto and their price is great.

I plan on getting the PC.
I'm in the market, I have done a $hit load of research.
I too looked at the v&h fpak, but based on all I have learned the Dynojet PC is the way to go.
No matter what you do to the bike you can set it up, more options, and it runs in conjunction with ur ecm.
And no matter what future mods you do, engine, intake exhaust... the PC co supports it and if they dont list a map, they will make one for you and email you the down load.
JMO...

in my particular case the fuelpak had a crapload of decel pop. PCV got rid of 80% of it. it may have been fixed by getting a different map for the fuelpak but i wanted a PCV so.....

I have had a FuelPak on my bike for over two years now and it runs great! I agree with thundergod that if all you're doing is a Stage I, the FuelPak is the best bang for your buck. Their tech support guys are great and quickly respond to inquiries and in most cases will help you tweak the map settings if you are having a specific issue.

+1, FuelPak is great for V&H products and is "the best back for the buck", but if your configuration might change then contact FuelMoto and go with what they recommend.

I have a set of V&H Short Staggered on my Fatboy......Fuelpak set me up with the correct mapping (Stage 1) and it runs great.....no popping. I also noticed that my mpg's on trips is pretty good.......46-52mpg. My limited experience.

FP is limited in its ability. PC will stay on your bike much longer through many more upgrades/changes. T-Max or TTS will be a forever. Price point is only valid when you consider the life of the bike. The FP is the easiest short term but if you need to purchase a different CPU/tuner in the future it was all wasted money. The PC is a better choice for someone that has a good tuner in the area and is willing to spend the time/money on a dyno, or course the autotune module would help that but remember it is not a drop it on and go thing, there are still many things that need to be considered in the base mappings.

Think about the changes you foresee on your bike. Even two or three years down the road if you will still be modding it. If you think you will outgrow a tuner, get the next up the line and see if that fits.

I went with the T-Max w/autotune and thought it was going to be a drop it on, load a map and leave it forever thing. NOPE, I've spent quite a lot of time learning about it and tweaking it to get to where I like the tune. Of course that time would have been spent on a dyno at significantly more money per hour, but I like to do this stuff.

So they are all good options, it just depends which one fits your plans.

If you plan on doing engine mods go with something other than fuel pack. Plus if your going to do engine mods i would imagine you are concerned about engine performance. In this case dyno would be important. IMO I would go with tts mastertune

I bought an 07 Ultra Classic that already had V&H exhaust but the AC was still stock. It was cooking my legs in July. I chnages to K&N and installed a Fuelpak at the same time. Bike runs better and cooler. It had a little more exhaust odor on decel I think. I'm sure that's because it's running richer now.
