Hello all,
I am coming over to the "dark" side after 25 years of metric bikes. I am totally torn between a Heritage classic and a Fatboy. I prefer the clean front end of the Fatboy, but this bike will be a purchase for cruising with my wife on the back for a day also. My budget is used, and used Fatboys are scarce, (and expensive). Used Heritages seem to be far more available, for only slightly more money. My question now, is will both these bikes handle the same when crusing 2 up? Sitting one these bikes they feel about the same. One last tech question, can a Fatboy front fender be bolted up the the Heritage front end? Thanks for your input!
Rich
Welcome to the Forums, Rich. Good advice from all above. You really can't go wrong any way you choose. If you check the spec's for the same year Heritage & FatBoy you'll find them virtually identical with the exception of length & weight which are accounted for by the full fenders, bags, etc. on the Heritage. I have seen a Heritage fender installed on a FatBoy so I know they can be swapped out.

Whatever you choose, you can bet you'll be "personalizing" it within weeks of initial purchase. I'm sure everybody here will agree on that! Someone once told me that the purchase of a Harley is just the downpayment on the accessories. I think he was a wise man.

Good luck and happy hunting.

-Randy

.. A good mustang seat on your deluxe and possibly more "heritage" style bars (wild1 8", 10" or 12" apes maybe) and you're every bit as comfy as any heritage out there.
I think the rear height also may be adjustable if you really had to raise it, but I wouldn't.

After sitting on all three, and doing "showroom" miles, I like the fit of the deluxe (My wife likes the Deluxe the best also). I like the position of the bars, and it seems to sit the lowest. I have never owned a porky 700+lb cruiser bike before, so naturally the lower the CG, the better the bike feels. The deluxes come with a lot of "bling" stock, and I also love the WWW sneakers.... I think the color (I REALLY like the silver/ cobalt blue bikes), the milage, and the $$$ niceness of said dealer is going to be the maker when I finally pull the trigger. As all of you commented, I can modify to my liking, no matter what chassis I choose. Thanks again for the help!
Rich

PS Keep in mind over the winter I am going to be agressive looking for my FL something so feel free to PM me of your FL's for sale... I live in southern New Hampshire.

Hi
I had a similar concern, coming out of a VTX 1800 which was very good 2 up. We have moved into a Heritage and are totally impressed with how nice it handles and rides. I am blown away at how it handles compared to the the Honda. The Fatboy has to be close to the same ride as the Heritage. The type of seat for passenger is big. Hope this helps.

Hey guys, in reply to my Heritage to Fatboy front fender swap question, heres a pic of a local dealer that has a Fatboy with a Heritage front fender! So sounds like all the FLST lower fork legs are the same and can take either style front fender.

same issue here! i went with fatboy because i got a great deal on one, and my ridin buddies both have heritage classics therfore i wanted to be different. i always like the fatboy cause of the name, front fender, solid wheels. i also am more comfy with the fb stock handlebars. good luck
