Default Lo Fork Slider Fitment Question

Looking at a set of black powdercoated fork sliders for my lo. They look to be in good condition, but I don't know what FLST model or year they are from. The seller tells me that they will fit, but I know the ones sold by HD list 07 and up as proper fitment. Not sure what the difference is between pre 07 and post for fitment. Any ideas? I would hate to spend $300 for the HD sliders and these are a good deal if I know they will fit.

What do you consider "a good deal"? I had mine Powdercoated and it cost me like $30/slider.. so $60 for the lowers, $12/each for the 'cow bells', so $84 for the set..

if you wanted to do it yourself, it's very simple to disassemble the forks, all you'll need is some new fluid (13.4 ounces per fork, as the service manual says) and 2 new gaskets ($10/each from HD)..

Get the part number. That's the best way to tell.

and to answer your question...only go with 08 and up. 07 is a bastard year that only fits 07's because of the front wheel offset. You can tell 07's apart from the 08 laters by looking at the mounting where the fender bolts go through. The 07's will be different lengths where the 08 and laters will be very close to
equal. Of course the easiest way to tell if the legs will work is if the part number tag is still on the inside of the leg.

I have an 07 fat boy and I just changed my front end out to an 08. Got a 08 fatboy wheel, and got the lowers from an 08 deluxe. Fixed the offset issue.

So the short answer....any FL front sliders from an 08 or later should work on your bike.

Thanks guys. I agree it would be cheaper to powdercoat the originals, I just didn't want the downtime. I could just wait until winter and get it done then. Thanks for the info bazzhead. That's what I needed to know.
