Not knowing what a scored new rotor looks like vs. normal marks, can you guys tell me if you think this looks scored?
Running my finger over it, it feels smooth.
Most of you know my new Fat Daddy's failed the first ride out, and the crush tube (spacer?) was too long and the wheel was going thump thump every rotation.
Just got it back from repair and this is how the rotor looks. Bike is in the shop again so can't compare to the back rotor right now.
Thanks.

Technically speaking it looks "scored" to me. Even if it feels smooth it still has the markings on it. The end all is still how the bike brakes. Does it make any noise? Does it feel smooth? Does it still have its' braking power? My experience (automotive machinest) has taught me that not all "scoring" is bad and even might be particular to a type of vehicle. Definately, the brand of brakes (composition of the braking material) will make a difference.
+1 on the "doesn't even look bedded in yet". I know from using polished stainless rotors on cars that it takes a lot longer for the brakes to bed in. I believe that I actually had special pads for stainless steel rotors because they bedded in differently than the iron ones.
KC Int recommended not to use stock HD pads on stainless steel Star rotors I just installed.
I went with some Drag Specialties organic pads. A lot of brake dust until they mated up though.
I was using stock pads on the polished stainless stock rotors and the wear is normal.
I just try not to have a panic/quick stop until the rotors and pads have had a chance to break-in.
You have chromed rotors and the pads have to wear through the chrome to get to the steel underneath ...notice the colour difference on hspring03's rotor ? he has worn through the chrome in the area that the pad actually touches ....looks normal to me and if you are checking for grooves use a finger nail across the marks ..more sensitive than a finger
