ive been looking at the nighttrain threads and have noticed that a few folks have gone from the 21" front to a 16" fat boy style front wheel. how does this affect the ride and what all is involved in swapping them out? im just curious. i think it looks pretty good, donno if id do it, but it does look alright.
Hmm.. I might be one of those. I just put 16" Black Bike spoke wheels on my Train yesterday. So far, no real ride quality reports, but on my initial test rides (to make sure nothing falls off!) the bike feels great. Soon, I'll take it out to the twisties to really test it. I did lose a bit of ground clearance, so I may have to slow down a bit, or work on my lines and lean angles. I tend to ride mine more like a sport bike than a (typical) Harley, so we'll see. I've attached a pic, and there are a couple more in the NT Pictures section. The look is absolutely wild. In my area, I've never seen another Softail like it.

Very complete notes! I got 'lucky' with mine, as my Storz fork has standard Wide Glide spacing, and both my Xtreme wheels and the new spokers were identical in all applicable measurements. It was simply a remove and replace operation for me (whew!).
Thanks! It's definitely getting there. I need to black out the (Deuce) risers, and the fender rack, then I 'might' be done!
As far as no front fender, it does look good, but that fat tire does throw some grit up. I'll track down some kind of cool fender for it.
