Default O2 sensor stripped

When I installed my V&H pipes, I accidentally cross threaded the O2 sensor into the front pipe. The metal in the pipes are softer than the O2 sensor, so the threads on the pipe are gone. Originally I ended up JB welding the O2 sensor in and that only lasted for a few months. Any other epoxies out there that will work better (the JB Weld is rated to 600 degrees)? Or should I just actually weld the sensor in?

Take it to a shop and have them either re-tap the bung or replace the bung all together....

+1 on replace the bung, I don't know if they make a heli-coil that big.

I tried to retap it myself, but there is not enough material left. I could replace the bung myself so I will look for one.

You should be able to find a helicoil for that, they make them in sizes much larger than the O2 sensor's thread.
Failing and if you have a MIG or TIG welder handy there is no reason you can't just make your own bung out of the right sized nut.

Heli-Coil kit #5523-18 - 18MM X 1.5 pitch - commonly sold in auto parts stores to do thread repair on OLDER cars with large plugs (it's listed as a spark plug repair kit but is the same size as O2 sensors)

I am just going to put a new bung on. Found an old thread here that gave me size to get. Thanks for the ideas
