Default Exhaust and Air Kit Sit-up

Need some input. Thinking of putting on SS slip-on mufflers with a Doherty air kit and a Power Commander. Anyone have any info on any of this? Loudness of the pipes and their quality? Anyone use the Doherty air kit and do you like it? I know that the PC is a good product but am wondering if I should also have the Stage 1 download from HD in addition to the Power Commander?? Thanks for any reply

Hi, I just read your post and wanted to comment on what I did with my 04 Heritage. I used an arlen ness super sucker, power commander with a map from their site to coincide with a 2 into one Vance and Hines Pro pipe. I had to tweak the mixture in the midrange a bit ( richer) but now it really kicks ***... I didn't a download from Harley, just the stock ecm.

Thanks Steve. Do you have a part number for the air kit you used.

I wrote this in another post somewhere. From what I hear the PC is a great addition, I was told by a performance company, they tune and do dyno work, that it would be adviseable to get the download first, add the PC, then get it dyno'ed. The reason for the download was to increase the rev-limiter, and it will richen the idle, both of which the PC can't do. He also told me that if the PC craps out, I could easily remove the seat, disconnect it, reconnect the module and ride with no problems, where as it would run way to lean with out the download. Like I said in the other post, I don't know much about the PC, this is just advise that was givin me.

That’s sounds strange that the PC would not up the rev-limiter and richen the idle. That’s what we buy these things for in addition to richening at other stages. This company wasn’t a Harley dealer by chance were they?

No, it wasn't a H-D dealer, the pc works with the module, the stock module still controls the rev-limiter, that part I am now positive. As far as idle, like I said, This was told to me from a performance tech, i'm not that knowledgeable on how it works, as I would never have the need to use one.

I've been checking on the PC website and part of their claim to fame is that they do not input any info into the stock ECU. So if you were to remove the PC for say, a warranty issue with HD, then there never would be any tattletale or anything in the stock ECU. The PC only controls the air/fuel mixture and maybe the ignition curve on certain models.
