I've got a sprung solo on my heritage. It's hard to see in this pic because the pic sucks but the seat is from a cross bones and I can go all day on this seat. It's like an air ride seat in a tractor truck.
What did you use to install it? Just the harley kit?
I just bought a Lepera Silhouette seat. Ill let you know how it is. I am the same way, I have the stock fatboy seat and I absolutely hate it. At one point in time, I took the seat off and put a black towel over the battery compartment and just rode like that. Just checked my tracking number and it will be here Thursday.
Alright ! Thanks to all you guys for the insights and ideas. I am on the sprung solo side of the fence. I too have been riding around with a folded up sweat shirt on the battery but I think the sprung looks kick a$$ ! I think it will look right at home on my '96 FLSTN . Thanks !
Mike
Hi guys, I haven't posted here before, but this thread is right on topic for me. For sometime I have been kicking around the idea of putting a sprung solo seat on my beast to replace the 'luxurious' standard job. It's been frustrating trying to imagine what a sprung seat would look like on my bike, as search as I may, I have found very few pictures of standard softails with sprung seats. So thanks guys, the ones here look just great. Look forward to seeing more examples.
Finally, any recommendations on brands? The Corbin Gentry leather solos look good, any experience with them?
My suggestion...get the spring seat kit from HD, then buy scissor springs and a custom seat from Kyle at Shade Tree Fabrications, or similar. With the scissor springs and a custom seat, you still sit low. I know mine on my Bones is much lower than the standard HD bones setup.
