Just took my new deluxe for a fisrt ride today. It was only 50 deg out and I could still feel alot of heat off rear head,
This is my first Harley, but after reading some of the post on engine temp I wonder how hot it is getting. I saw a fuel tank for sale on e bay yesterday that had a burnt lower right corner, the seller claims it is a repaint that was not prepped correctly, but I still wonder how hot it would have to get to get the top side of the tank that hot, with fuel in it, it was really burnt! Maybe tommorow I'll check it with my infared
temp thingy.
i have been hearing stories about the 07 96ci running hot. I have a built 05 deluxe with the works and it does not run hot at all sounds like the old rule sticks never buy any thing the first year out i beleive this to be true especially with such a major change in this engine the stroke. This new engine has some over seventy new part numbers and the verdict is still out on it. it will still be awhile before we know exzactly what it will be its to soon to tell yet.
I was in a local HD dealer this weekend looking around, and I asked one of the floor salesman about the new engines on 07's and the rumor that I was hearing about them running hot. Naturally he told me that he had never heard of such a thing. I was in contimplating on trading my 03 Fatboy in for an 07 Electraglide Classic, but I came to my senses. I think I will wait a year or two, if I ever decide to trade in my 03 Fatboy. I guess I am not quite ready to trade in my 03 Fatboy that I never have any problems with and is reliable every day.
I find my '07 Deluxe running pretty hot also. Going in for the 1k checkup this week and will find out more. Going to look at adding an oil cooler and a digital temperature dipstick.
My was hot until break in. Since I added the sert,se aircleaner,se pipes and syn 3 oil in everything it has not been a problem. All this was done in the month of August.
