I'm new to the forum and am hoping someone might have the answer I'm looking for. I have an 08 Fatboy with Rinehart 2 into 2 flush cut pipes, and a Big Sucker air cleaner. I'm currently running a Cobra Powerpro autotuner, which replaced a FI2000R O2 model. I'm having the same problem with both units. I have a surge when I ride up hill, or when I approach freeway speeds from about 65MPH and up. I changed the exhaust gaskets, air cleaner gasket, spark plugs, and wires. None of these things have fixed the problem. Like I said earlier I'm trying my second fuel processor and it has not fixed the problem. I'm also experiencing a lot more vibration than under my stock configuration. Please help.
I would have chosen another ECM tuner so that you could have tried to adjust it out. The fixed tuners are probably tuned very similarly. How about intake gaskets? If the intake is sucking air it will cause that too. Shoot some carb cleaner around them while its running and see if the idle changes.
I will try that. I did not purchase the second Cobra unit, it was sent to me because of a bad customer service experience. If I need to get a new tuner what is the general consensus on what is the best tuner to use.
Get a tuner and a Dyno, or a good autotuner like thundermax or Rev Performance EMS. I have a power commander with a good dyno and my bike runs like a raped ape. I have tried numerous different configurations and getting a good dyno was by far the best thing I have ever done.
Sounds a lot like the trouble I was having. I went so far as to have the primary pulled apart to check for something that might cause the vibration. Never did find the problem, but it's all of a sudden got about 75% better. Keep me updated on this! And good luck.
I tested the intake as you suggested. I heard no obvious change in idle. Is it possible for it to only leak at the higher RPM range where I feel the problem? If not, I guess it's time to look for a new fuel processor.
I have not worked with either of the units you have / had....
did you have to replace your O2 sensors when you installed either unit?
or are you using the stock sensors...
