I put in the quiet baffles which replaced a set of big city thunder baffles today.Took it out for a short 2 mile spin and these things are quiet very subdued compared to the big city.Dont know if i was just used to the big city or what.Does anyone know if they'll change with time. There is a big difference between these 2 sets. One was probably very loud the other not very much.
I have the quiet baffles and also tried the baffles (too loud for me) that came with the V&V BSS. The difference between the two iaw V&H is 2-3 db. What I did is drilled another hole at the end of the quiet baffles (now it has two holes on it) and it's a bit louder but not much with one hole and it's just right for me.
I just run with the stock baffel that came with the V&H Big Shot Staggered pipes. They are loud but I have gotten used to the sound and love it on the road. Not so cool in small communities and around my neighborhood. Neighbors look at me with hate in their eyes!
I think I am going through my second childhood at age 65! Wife hits me in the ribs when I crack the throttle and rev it up to make it talk to me on the open road, in tunnels and valleys where the noise is very noticeable.
If you really want to go LOUD (trust me, I have changed exhausts on my ride more times than oil) go for a megaphone geometry exhaust. There are brands that let you go loud with a quality sound.
I dont want to go real LOUD.The big city thunders were more than loud enough.I wanted more of a low growl without loosing too much loudness.I thought this would be the case with the quiet baffles after reading all the posts about the quiet baffles.Everyone seemed to say that the quiet baffles would provide a low growl/rumble type sound and still be loud.I'm really undecided yet.I havent given the baffles a chance yet since i havent been able to give it a good ride.I only tested in a 2 mile run,and dont want to make a too early of a conclusion without giving it a chance.Hopefully as time goes by they will change. But honestly compared to the big city they sound muffled, especially at idle.
almost forgot, does anyone know if the wrapping of the quiet baffles burn off somewhat after time?If it does then maybe/hopefully they'll change.I'm wondering if it has too much wrapping.
