Below in my sig is the current state of my bike. I am thinking of putting a MS Batwing on the front. Something that I can switch out easily for a smaller shield for short runs.
Do you think the Batwing would look stupid with the 12" apes?
Batwings are for baggers! . Just kidding. I prefer to ruin my softail withotu a shield or fairing. One day I'll get a bagger and have a fairing, but not yet.
I say go for it. I have a woodys fairing on my fatboy and love it. Thought I would take it off more than I do. The tunes are really nice to have. I have buffalo 12.5 apes on mine. Only issue is that you need to rock them towards you a little. My bars have a good amount of pull back so they are in a little tight, but found to be really comfortable on long hauls. Here it is set up for touring. If you want any other angles let me know.

I'm facing the same dilemma. I'm just going to run the MS batwing in cold weather and windvest this summer...I don't care how stupid it looks. I got 12" apes on mine, too
