Warning light
I'm trying to buy a 2005 Softail standard from a local indy dealer, he is actually a Kawasaki agent but took the bike in part exchange, I was all set to pick the bike up when he rang and said the "EFI warning light" had come on and he was taking the bike to a local Harley guy to remedy the fault, that was another indy guy, I said he'd be better going to a main HD place but I think he's trying to save a few bucks, he rang yesterday and said he had the bike back and all was ok then rang an hour later to say the light had come back on....personally I don't think he has a clue about Harleys and the guy he is taking it to is just screwing him for some extra labour costs etc
The bike is a good buy in mint condition and priced less than a private deal over here, it's only done 5000mls I'm thinking of getting him to chip a bit off the price and just taking it to a main agent myself...is it worth the gamble?...the bike runs sweet as a nut, has some sort of aftermarket pipes but with a stock filter set up...could that be the issue?
The last I heard they had contacted the previous owner who said he had a different filter set up on the bike when he had it(hypercharger) and had no problems, the shop were going to buy that set up off him and try to see if that resolved the problem....I reckon they're wasting their money...any opinions advice much appreciated as always
