Well, after 3 months, 1200.00 repair bill, my Softail is on the mend. Sucks that the season is now over, weather is warm today, but I can't have it back together till the weekend.
I guess this gives me more time to add more stuff to it......:-)
Friends don't let Friends put aftermarket cams in without changing the stock Cam bearing.........OUCH!!!
I wonder if I should go back to the guy I bought it from, seeing as how some friend of his did the dirty work, and bitch because I got 30 days of riding before the Cam bearing failed and took out the oil pump, cam. Or is it buyer beware?
Well we have learned from your experience with the cam thing! We will put in the bearing.
Michigan, boy I don't know. I spent four years at Kincheloe AF base in the upper penn of Michigan and that drove me right out of the midwest to Florida after a brief time in college in Indiana. Ten years in Hollywood, Florida then ten years in Los Angeles and now Oregon since 1993.
When I look back I am so glad I got the heck out of there while I was young before I got settled into a long term job, and children. I have had a ball living in the sunbelt areas over the years, scuba diving, boating, dirt bike riding, street riding, etc. Now I am 65 and could care less about a lot of that stuff. Oregon is a good compromise. Sure it rains but its rare that you get snow or temps lower than the 40's. Love it here in God's country.
Born in Northern Indiana in 1941, moved to Florida in 1969 in my twenties. Was a good move, a great adventure. Take the risk if you can and do what your heart tells you to do.
Yea man, I know what you mean about cold weather. High 70's here today, and when it drops another few degrees, I'll have to put away the shorts and break out the long pants. Damn, I hate cold weather.
Well if you lived here in Lake Havasu City you'd still be dealing with your evaporative cooler running during the day! Hit like 88 degrees here yesterday. It's the middle of November and I'm still waiting on Sundown to ride. OOps it's sundown Later
