Thanks guys. I'm over it now. Really, I built the bike to ride not to show, so it's not that big a deal. Guess it was just the injustice of the whole thing that rubbed me the wrong way. Thanks to your stories I see now thats just how it goes sometimes.
Thanks too for all the props on the bike! Raul, that was a very nice thing to say, especially since the bikes of this forum is what inspired me in the first place. Gotta say I think you're kicking my butt now!
When I had my Sporty some years ago, a bunch of us were out riding one day. Came upon a big bike outing and they were having a show for some charity event, so we all entered just to donate (none of us expected to win). After a couple hours hanging out, beer tent, etc., they call my name for the Sporty class. Cracked us up! I guess it was the canary yellow and white paint scheme.....
Don't think I'll have to worry about that with my present bike seeing as it is black and blue and hardly no chrome.
Your bike is awesome, be proud of your ride!
many bike and/or car shows are run by people who have no clue what theyre doing.
. You hit the nail on the head.
I've been involved with competitive model airplanes for decades, and still baffled by incompetent Contest Directors (with absolutely no judging criteria) presenting plaques & awards to those less deserving, like their buddies.
Thanks-- I don't know why but I'm still peeved about the whole thing. Guess I just wanted a trophy.
Curiously, the bike that won the actual "Custom" class was a modified Honda. Go figure...
Go figure what? Are you saying only Harley's should win? I can see your argument for the Honda not entering in the right class.
Years ago I took first place in the Custom Chopper class with a Triumph. The Harley owners were so pissed. that the next year they had 2 trophies for the best custom chopper one for best American and one for best foreign bike.
Tom
me and a buddy went to a small bike show once.he had a really nice custom chopper,me and him hand made most of the bike..there was no competition to his bike there so he thought he had the trophy in the bag.. while we were there one of the guys that was putting on the show came up and asked us to vote for his NASTY ratted out, what looked like the rear end fell out, (instead of cut out) of a junk yard vw beetle rat trike.i offered him a gallon of gas and a match..i knew him and was just giving him a hard time.anyway the show was fixed from the first,a 3 year old stock electraglide that need a bath won first place..second was a old well ridden fatboy..he still blames me for causing him to not win.. sometimes it is just predecided or a popularity show
