Default Robbed!

So this morning I went to a local bike show/charity thing and decided to enter my bike. First show I've done, and entered in the "Cruiser-- Semi-Custom" class. Not many bikes there and didn't really see anything else as far as competition goes. Wait 3 hours for judging, and they end up giving the trophy to a completely ground-up custom bike (even though there was also a "custom" category). I'd been talking to the owner of that bike the whole morning, so after he picked up his trophy I mentioned that I didn't think he would be in my class. He said he entered both-- not sure why since there wasn't a single OEM part on this bike. Guess he figured the judges for the idiots they were...

just venting.

Happens all the time don't sweat it . I was in one last week and what beat me was laughable. I had a pretty decent crowd around my ride most of the day and lots of people were telling me I was a shoe in for at least one trophy at a minimum crowd favorite. I didn't win squat in my class or anything else for that matter lol.

Money went to a good cause with mine so I didn't care. Most of the time the fix is in and it goes to people they know etc . Just enjoy your mods and your riding. Their will be other shows.

By the way nice ride

Thanks-- I don't know why but I'm still peeved about the whole thing. Guess I just wanted a trophy.

Curiously, the bike that won the actual "Custom" class was a modified Honda. Go figure...

I entered a small local deal last year. No classes, Harley, Honda or what ever. I talked to a lot of people about my bikes and theirs as well. When it came down to judging they had a 19 year old chic, prom queen pick the best of show as well as a few other awards.

Her favorite was a Big Dog with a fancy paint job......There were a lot of nicer bikes but the chic liked the colors. She most likely didn't even see my Black Demin SB.

I thought to hell with it but hey...It isn't about the awards but more so being out there and having a great time while talking to other bike owners. Then you get the non bike owners that want to chat about what you did or didn't do.

I will probably enter both my SB and this year the FB this year and leave the Sportster home.

What others think of your bike it not important. It's what you think. Shows are for fragile egos, that end up being shattered egos.

Oh and your bike is the *****, but that's my opinion.

True story.....went to Hooters show, all proceeds go to MS. I hand the guy a $20($5 entry fee) and say to just put the rest for a donation. He asks what class I want to enter, and I tell him to go ahead and pick for me, as I was mainly there to meet a couple buddies that I have not seen for a long time.

Come to find out he entered me in 4 classes(small show, about 70 bikes all together) and I win all 4 classes and Best of Show!

Wanna talk about some pissed off people! As I won Stock, Custom, modified and Touring??? I kept the Best of Show plaque and had them hand out the others again. Not really sure who was judging the show, but there is no way one bike can win that many different classes. Just look at shows as a place to meet new friends and check out other riders rides. I never expect to win a show I enter....but to meet other people with the same interest as I do.

Good Luck in the future!

Jimmy

Blow it off. It was a charity event. Just keep entering shows to see how your bike does. I did not win my first one out.

Paint usually wins shows...A guy I talked to one time told me "You will never win a show with a black bike...you have to bike your bike beer can colors" Didn't think much about it till his POS Bud Light colored bike beat my much nicer black bike...lol
