Hey guys, i'm thinking about buying a 2001 softail deuce, It looks like a decent bike for the money, it has stage 1 kit with vance&hines longshots. z-bars, HD tach, extended foot controls, extended brake lever and shift lever, and passenger backrest. The only thing that concerns me is the fact it has 40,000 miles. Is this almost wore out? Or is there still plently of life in this machine, thanks in advance, Jarin
40K isn't a lot of miles for an 01. Do the math, it has an average of 3600 miles a year. My 06 Heritage Classic has just under 75K and is still running strong. The only concern about it would be the cam chain tensioners.
my deuce has got 88k on it, i was ridin it home today and thought to myself! this things a freight train, it runs strong, mine is a 95" now with andrews 37cams, never a problem!
at that mileage though i would check your cam chain tensioners, i did mine when i went bigbore and cams at 76k,they were holding on by a thread!
do the SE hydraulic conversion and it will be sweet!
1200 is a little more than i was thinking! jeez, anybody have an idea what a good purchase price would be for this bike?
1200 was for gear driven cams, never worry about tensioners again
a SE hydraulic tensioner upgrade is around 800,
just to check and replace tensioners would be half that again i guess
