Default Price Check Please

Hey guys,

I recently sold my sporty and am looking at this 2002 Night Train, I wanted to get everyone's opinion on what they thought of the bike and what I should look out for.

this is what the bike has on it so far,

S&S 95ci Kit
Fuel Injected
Heartland 180 rear tire kit
Vance & Hines 2 into 1 exhaust

a little over 17 K miles

Is 8500 a good price for this bike?

Also is there anything in particular I should look for or any tips you can give me?

any help will be appericiated

Without looking anything up or seeing the bike $8500 doesn't sound unreasonable.

Cam chain tensioners might be an issue? Forum members will chime in. I know they were an issue on the 88 TC up to 2005 but not sure when the issue started.

Good deal. Check the cam chain tensioners. Maybe he did gear drive when he did the engine build?

Thank you for the replies,

I am going down tomorrow to pick it up,

Is there anyway to check if they're bad with out having to open up the cam covers?

I'm planning to take a one of these mechanic stethoscopes and listening to the primary, trans, lifters, and cams, is there anything else you guys think I should look out for?

Nope, open the cam cover, you can see the outer shoe clearly. Use a dental mirror to check the inner. If they're good, repeat every 10,000 miles.

Since you've got an '02 with the good crank and Timken Lefty bearing, put gear drive cams in when the time comes and ride it forever. Congrats!

and what years does this "good crank and bearing" end at, being that i have an 05' im just curious. i just cleared the 10k mark and wondering when this cam tensioner issue is gonna hit me, i heard somewhere around the 15k-20k mark.
