As you all know I hate my pipes, I wrapped them to deal with the current discoloring issue.
I dont want to spend a ton of cash on new pipes but I think I need to buy some new ones. Im looking for some options here. First off my major problem is rider lameness, LOL. I wear Dickies Brand pants which have polyester in them so for some odd reason (I cant stop doing this btw) when I put my feet down I tend to touch my pant leg ever so light to the front pipe and the synthetic fibers burn off on the pipe glazing it in a dull shade of chrome, looks horrible basically.
So right now Im taking all suggestions. Think low profile so I dont burn my pant legs on them or even black coated with the tips chrome or something that isnt your run of the mill. Thanks guys, looking forward to your suggestions.
Brett, how you doing today. I would 1st off get rid of the Dickies and wear regular jeans. 2nd get that heat wrap off your pipes and get a set of inexpensive heat shields for now to hide the discoloring until you decide what pipes your going to get. The apes I can live with , your bike is way to cool . It doesn`t look right with the wrap unless you are going to change the color to flat black. Then I would powder coat the rims red ! Good luck and have a good one !
JEANS!!! BLEH. Red rims with a blue and white bike? Maybe if the bike was flat black. While I appreciate the suggestions, just looking for some pipe suggestions other then the norms out there that you can find on ebay.
Two things, fist get a decent set of heat shields, second pull the pipes off and ship them to Jet-Hot for a ceramic coating.
The coating will drop the pipe temps nearly in half, and the heat shields will protect your pants, not to mention your leg from cooking from whatever heat is left over.
That is an awesome idea, with the coating then the heat shields chances are I wont be burning my pants. Sadly these pipes are done, they need to be replaced. So get to start from scratch. Maybe fishtails or a 2 into 1, if thats the case.
Evening ZjAvy how's it going. I just put a Bassani 2-1 called the RDARAGE on a softail for a customer and they do perform better, not to mention good sound. Icould probally save you some $$$ off the price they have posted too. I did notice that the rear pipe goes forward a little more than the pipes your running now which would I believe give you more clearance from your pant leg. they come with full heatshields also. Heck if you found another pipe you wanted I could probally help with that too if you'de like. The only pic I could have you look at would be on www.bassanipipes.com to look at them. I could get you a set if you wanted. 1-405-631-1218
So you can send them to get coated. New ones are easier to do and last longer to boot.
I am saving up to have my pipes done. Then I want to add Khrome Werks taper slip on's with a stage 1 air intake setup and a PCIII to get things working properly.
Love those HD2007, I have a feeling my wife wouldnt though. I need to get her on her own bike so I can do something like that for sure. Who makes them?
