I have an 06 Softtail Standard and the rear brake light switch just went out again. This will be the 3rd time I have had to replace it and the bike only has 15k miles on it. Anyone else having this problem. Maybe heat???

Mine is out again on my 04 Heritage. This time I am not replacing it for a while....just make sure the front works....I usually grab them both at slow down anyway....

If the switch goes bad it generally keeps the brake light on, not off. People think they have no brake light because they see no change when hitting the brake but it's because the brake light is on and at it's brightest. Unless you just unplugged the rear switch, thus eliminating it.
I run Goodridge switches and they hold up well and are nice and sensitive so you don't have to cram the pedal to turn the light on.

Interesting. I must have a different problem this time around. I know the light is not on continuously because I had a friend check and I can tell by the reflection in the garage when i apply the front brake.
Silicone ... can't keep it from getting by the seal. Only solid way is to go back to Dot 4(Glycol). But thats a big job. If you cut it apart you will find silicon in where the points are and they will be coated with carbon...Happens about every 6 mos.
I have an '05 Softail with 46,000 miles and never had a brake switch go out. However, the switch on my wife's '07 Deluxe went out after about 6,000 miles. And the light stayed on when it went out. My bike uses DOT 5, her's DOT 4.
