Default Air Filter Help?

I would appreciate help choosing a high flow air filter for my 2011 Fatboy. I want one that I can get rained on and not worry about it or putting a rain sock on and also want it to filter well. I don't mind the look of the stock cover. I would also like it to have a good crankcase breather setup. Where I live it's dusty when dry but it also tends to rain alot, usually unexpectedly. Thanks!

If you're going to keep the stock cover, you don't have to worry about precipitation.

The Ness Big Sucker is a standard, but it spits crank oil into the intake. Some folks frown on that.

Me personally, if I had the cash to spend I'd go with the Doherty:

I can't say specifically which model you'd need, but I'm sure they can help you.

One thing tho...recently I think there were some customer service issues, so poke around and be informed.

Thanks for the reply! How are the Harley stage 1 air filters? I see you can also keep the stock cover.

If you buy JUST a filter, I think you'll want to just go straight to K&N, not Harley. Word is the MoCo blue filters are caca

I got a Stage 1 download and hi-flow air filter from the dealer. I run an open air filter setup with a custom cover from azece.com. Check them out. I recommend highly.

2011 Deluxe.

I am running the fuelmoto stage 1 a/c open. It basically the same as the SE air cleaner just a bit better. I have not ever had any problems running an open filter in the rain. The oil coated filters keep the water out. There are many here that have ridden in down pours for extended times with no problems. Plus like you said you plan on using the stock A/C cover so you are even more protected.

I'm running a FuelMoto Stage one myself. It's actually Harley's stage one set-up with FM's own cotton/lifetime filter. Nice set-up. You can run the stock cover with it. I went with the round nostalgic cover. Both are good in the rain. You will need to do something with fuel management after making the change to stage one though.

Thanks for all the advice! Anyone using a K&N RK-3909 or RK-3910?
Does the cover seal against the backing plate like the stock unit?
