Just bought a 2012 Heritage and I am wondering if there are any options out there for a different air cleaner cover to replace the "football", without changing the air cleaner itself?? Ideally, I'd love to get something "smaller" that wouldn't be in the way of my legs when my feet are down! But also, the football just doesn't do it for me asthetically :-)
You can cut the circle out of the middle of the football. I cut mine with a cutting wheel. I like the looks of it a lot better. I am on my cell so I can't post a pic. Might be one in PICS on the site.
do you have the SE backing plate or is the AC still stock..
if you have the SE backing plate then anything will work.i have the round black school bell style AC cover instead of the ugly football..
the SE system is good arlen ness makes the big sucker which is also a good one ..anything is better than the stock system which has only has a 1.5 inch square opening for the air to get in.let the engine breathe and it will produce more torque and hp
looking at the pic of your bike it has stock exhaust also
look into the stage 1 upgrade

Not really any options. Take off your cover and you will find that your air filter is oblong. If you want smaller you will probably need to change the whole air cleaner. And if you do that you may as well go full stage 1 and add pipes and the dealer ECM flash or a tuner. Here is a pic of the shape of the Air filter. As you can see they are not round.

+1 like he said, with the stock air cleaner your stuck.
At least the round ones have 70 or so years of tradition behind them. My old Heritage looks mighty fine with the Arlen Ness Big Sucker, topped with a plain, 7" round air cleaner.
+1 on dealer Stage 1 upgrade and ECM download with new pipes.
This is the third time in two days that I've recommended www.azece.com which makes custom A/C covers. They're priced well and worth a look in my opinion. I like my gloss black circle cover.
i have the fatboy lo vivid black i have the dark custom timimg cover and derby cover, this year harley makes the dark custom air cleaner insert that will make the football air cleaner look better.
