Default Advice needed please

Hey everybody,

I'm driving a 1998 Sportster Custom 1200, Screeming Eagle at the moment. Now I'm looking out for a Heritage Classic to replace the Sporty.

I found a very nice bike, in good chape, a lot of options, showroom condition. It is a 1999 Heritage Classic FLSTC, 80ci, 36.000miles, just had a big service, new white walls, etc...

Now my questions:
How many miles/kilometers would this engine be able to run without having to much costs?
Are there any special things I have to look out for before purchasing this bike?
With this milage, what may I expect of costs in the near future? (In the past the service manual is followed as asked, but I don't know what is/was the drivingstyle of the current owner...)

All advice is more than welcome!

Thanks!

Greetz from Belgium!

That would vary with every used vehicle, car or motorcycle. If the owner has all the maintenance records and the bike runs relatively quietly, you should be good for a long time, depending on how you ride and maintain it. The bike has less than 3000 miles per year put on it so far, which around here would be low miles.

I don't have that model or year bike maybe someone will chime in who does. Have a good look over the bike for cosmetics and the take a long test drive to check out the acceleration, braking, transmission and engine noise.

Probably the same costs you have with your sporty.Nice looking bike btw.Someone who has this year/model bike will eventually post better advice for you.

Hi RoadkingHarry,

Thanks for the reply.

I have the impression there are no more 80ci drivers on this forum.
I have no experience at all with this bike or engine, so every advice is more than welcome.
Who can help me?

Thanks!

the 80ci 1340cc Evo's are very good engines if they've been maintained properly, if it has 36,000 miles (not KM?) (57000+KM?), then yeah, that's pretty decent.. i agree, take it out for a nice test ride and go over everything in detail..

..good looking bike, with a really interesting cross-over pipe right there under the air cleaner cover.

Belgium? I love your waffles.
