I've had mine for about a month. So far they are worth the mooney and the wait. Don't worry about the locks. Every grown man has a knife that will cut leather and the bags themselves are more valuable than the contents.
I just ordered a heritage saddlebag guard and was told on the forum it would fit. Looks like I am about to find out!!
Considering the $100 price difference for locks or not, I agree with your decision. Too bad Hog Deluxe just doesn't include locks as a standard feature.

I sent an email a couple of weeks ago regarding locks on the springer bags for my Deluxe and the response was encouraging. I am ordering once the locks are added. HogDeluxe makes some awesome bags. SJ Ron
I have the Deluxe bags. Mike is great to work with. I had asked if extra lacing could be added to the edge of the lid and its there, of course at an extra price. Mine have the locks and I like that factor of the bags. If you are running a back rest, tell him so he can send you the longer bolts. I can add the detachable barrels for the back rest with the bags on, or take off the detachables, use the original bolts and the bags fit almost flush on the fender.
I have had so many compliments at the dealers about my bags. I'm using Lexol cleaner and conditioner on them and they are great. If I had the true duels, I would buy his new larger Deluxe bag, should be as large as a Heritage bag. Love em!
The locks are great for me. I like it cause no one can walk by and lift a lid quickly to see what is inside. And I feel that its more secure with the lock and the buckles while running down the road.
